Resources

There are some gadgets, books, or other items that I find myself using frequently and think to myself, “what on earth did I do before I had this?!” This Resource Guide will be a work in progress for awhile as I try to identify all of those essential tools that I use and love in the kitchen and dining room.

Essential Kitchen Tools

  • Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump – We love having wine with dinner, but we don’t always finish the bottle. We use this simple wine saver pump to pump out the air in the bottle and seal the wine. With it sealed, we can wait a couple of days before drinking it again, and the wine is still good. They make different kinds of wine pumps, but this is the one I have (except mine is white) and it works perfectly fine while being less expensive.
  • Extra Wine Stoppers – Also essential in our house is to have¬†extra stoppers. We may have a white open in the fridge and a red or two open on the counter. While usually we just have one stopper in use, the extras come in handy after we throw dinner parties or larger parties and have various bottles leftover that we don’t want to go to waste.
  • Snapware 2-Layer Cupcake and Cookie Carrier – I love this double-decker cupcake carrier! It has proven to be very useful over the past 5 years as I’ve brought desserts and treats to various potlucks and football tailgates. I purchased mine at the Container Store, but love that they also have the same model on Amazon (at the time of writing this, both locations have equal prices, but I know that could change so wanted to share both options).
  • Joyce Chen Scissors – I have 3 pairs of these scissors and have yet to find a better pair of scissors for cooking. I use them to easily trim the fat off of any meat, or to open bags of food. They are sharp and the perfect size for trimming meat.
